Die Werke von Wenzel Hablik haben eine besondere Kraft und Vielfalt. Utopische Architektur-Entwürfe und fantastische Farbwelten – Themen wie die Gesellschafts-Utopien einer besseren Lebenswelt und die Überwindung von Realitäten sind Gegenstand vieler seiner Werke. Die Natur als wichtiges Vorbild, aber auch technische Komponenten finden sich in seinen Werken wieder.
Zum Auftakt von Lumen + Colours wurde unter dem Thema “Das künstlerische Erbe der Region – Wenzel Hablik” eine sehr vielfältige Bild-Auswahl getroffen, die eben diese Bandbreite Habliks Schaffenswerk zeigen sollte: Tierdarstellungen, Reisebilder, utopische Architekturen sowie kunsthandwerkliche Arbeiten und Planeten-Bilder verschmelzen in der Projektion mit der Bahnhofsfassade.

“Wenn Wenzel Hablik zum Auftakt von Lumen + Colours vor Ort gewesen wäre, er wäre baff, dass seine Werke so bekannt sind und mit Itzehoe sehr stark verbunden werden. Er wäre sicherlich begeistert, wie gut sich seine Werke mit der Fassaden-Projektion verbinden lassen. Es war immer Habliks Anliegen gewesen, dass seine Kunst ein Teil des alltäglichen Lebens wird, so ist diese Projektion ganz in seinem Sinne.” So Katharina Gräber, Leiterin des Wenzel-Hablik-Museums.
